General News UCN Cable Network launches its third HD local cable channel UCN News HD

MUMBAI: Multi system operator (MSO) UCN Cable Network has launched a high definition (HD) version of its flagship channel UCN News. The channel debuted on 15th February. This is the third HD channel from UCN after UCN Social Media HD and UCN Cinema HD.

“We have launched UCN News HD on 15th February. UCN News is one of the popular channel on our network. We felt that we should launch the channel in HD to provide a better viewing experience to our consumers,” said UCN Cable Network Director Jagdish Paliya.

UCN owns and operates 24 local cable channels which includes UCN news (news channel), UCN Prime (movie channel), UCN Social Media (youth music channel), and UCN Lamhe (classic music channel).

UCN is central India’s leading digital cable TV and broadband service provider. The MSO has operations in Vidarbha, Marathwada and parts of Madhya Pradesh.

As reported earlier by, UCN Cable Network’s net profit and revenue has seen an upswing in the financial year ended 31st March 2018.

The Nagpur-based company’s net profit was up at Rs 2.12 crore compared to Rs 42 lakh in the previous fiscal. In FY16, the company’s net profit stood at Rs 3.33 crore. EBITDA increased to Rs 17.91 crore from Rs 16.96 crore in FY17 and Rs 17.75 crore in FY16. The EBITDA and PAT margin stood at 18.05% and 2.14% respectively.

Operating revenue jumped to Rs 99.29 crore compared to Rs 91.62 crore in FY17 and Rs 106.9 crore in FY16.

Its existing subscriber base is around 800,000 for cable TV and 5300 users in the broadband segment. The Average Revenue per User (ARPU) is approximately Rs. 51. It has a in and around Nagpur city of Maharashtra. The company also generates revenue from advertisements, through in-house channels in multiple languages.

Acuité had recently assigned a long-term rating of ‘ACUITE BBB’ to the Rs. 15 crore bank facilities of UCN. The outlook is ‘Stable’.

Incorporated in 2006, the company is promoted by Ashutosh Kane, Ajay Khamankar and Jagdish Paliya. The company is engaged in providing Internet and cable distribution services. The three directors have been running the company since 1991 in the form of a partnership firm which was later incorporated as Private Limited in 2006.
