The current set of emojis on WhatsApp lag a little behind the Android 8.0 emoji set, and Apple’s latest set. But WhatsApp is catching up really fast, and we must say we notice some similarity of the new emoji set to iOS 11’s. Now you may not care for new chopstick, snow sledge emojis, but the new set brings in emoticons like the swear face, the mermaid, and the T-Rex.

Most of the new emojis are the ones you can see in Emojipedia’s list of new 2017 emojis. There are new facial expressions, a bearded guy and a woman wearing a headscarf, a breastfeeding mother, people doing yoga and in a steaming room, a brain emoji that I’ll likely use very sarcastically all the time. Also making debut is a T-Rex emoji, which I have personally been waiting for years now. A Zebra, which was surprisingly not there all this while. It has also added mythical characters like a zombie and an elf, which would really add a lot of fun to conversations. There are also the new Star-Struck and Exploding Head smiley faces.

There are also several new food emojis like broccoli, pretzel, dumpling and sandwich, some new winter clothing articles, flags for England and Scotland and Wales.

But, hold on your breaks there. Let us remind you these are still in beta. If you want to check the new emojis, you need to be on the latest WhatsApp Beta 2.17.397, which you can grab from APK Mirror or from the Play Store after joining the beta program.

While the emoji set is still in beta, the messaging platform has launched a feature we have all been waiting for. After working on the feature for quite some time, the ‘message revoke’ or ‘delete message for everyone’ is finally rolling out to iOS, Android, and Windows Phone users. Essentially, the feature allows you to delete messages in private chats or group conversations. The prerequisite here is that both the sender and receiver need to be on the latest WhatsApp version.
