General News Wisden India & R Ashwin collaborate to launch world’s first Auction Fantasy League

R Ashwin, the world’s No. 1 allrounder, has joined hands with Wisden India to bring Cric-Trade , the world’s first auction fantasy league of which he is a co-creator and brand ambassador, to cricket fans worldwide ahead of the West Indies-India T20I series in USA.

If you’ve ever followed the IPL auctions and thought, ‘Why are they not bidding for player X? Why are they spending unreasonable amounts on player Y? Just who makes their auction strategies? I would do better!’, this is your chance to do just that.

“It has got a feature which none of the other games (Fantasy) have,” says Ashwin. “This has got the first ever auction way of picking your team. In other games, everybody can pick Virat Kohli and R Ashwin but in this game, the user needs to sample size his own team. If one user picks R Ashwin (in auction), the other can’t pick me.”

How does it work? You have to log in to the game, where you will be go up against another player. The current two-player games will, in time to come, become four and even eight-player games. Each auction will run for an hour and a half, and begin two hours before the scheduled start of the match. That is the time you have to pick players from the teams playing on the day.

The game is designed on a match-day basis, so there are fresh auctions everyday before play begins. So the user needs to log in at the given time, bid for players and make his team for the day. The user will score points based on the players he or she has selected. The points the users gather everyday get accrued into the leaderboard for the respective series.

The bidding process is very interactive and will give the user an overall experience of the real Auction.

Users need to register their teams at www.cric-trade.com to join the game and be eligible for the bidding process for the two West Indies v India T20Is.
