General News YouTube to end support for Video Editor, Photo slideshows tools

YouTube has been making a lot of changes to its platform. Recently, it announced that it is doing away with Video Editor and Photo slideshows tools on its platform. Users can access the Video Editor and Photo slideshows only till September 20.

YouTube says that the two tools were the least used features as so are being discontinued. The company also mentioned that users who have some project that is ongoing in the Video Editor have two months to wrap it up. However, apart from this, other tools in the Video Manager will be available. Users can continue to upload videos with edits such as trimming, blurring, and filters. Apart from trimming, blurring, and filters; YouTube is also keeping audio library, end screens, cards, subtitles, sound effects, and quick fixes. YouTube’s  quick fixes include- stabilising, contrast, slow motion, saturation to name a few.

Further, YouTube guarantees that videos that have been published already won using the Video Editor will not be affected. “There are also many free and paid third-party editing tools available if you’re looking for new editing software,” the blog further read. Users can download their videos from YouTube in 720p resolution or use Google Takeout to save their original work.

Recently, YouTube announced there are over 1.5 billion people globally who consume YouTube videos on a monthly basis. According to the report, the YouTube viewers spend at least an hour daily consuming content over mobile devices alone. YouTube is also bringing a host of changes to the app and the website. Recently, the desktop app was given the thumbnail feature, which plays a small part of the video upon hovering on it. Apart from that, there is also a new sharing feature will let users share videos directly from within the app.
