General News Zee TV to increase weekend programming hours with two new shows
MUMBAI: Hindi GEC Zee TV is expanding its weekend programming by two hours with the launch of two new shows ‘JuzzBaatt….Sangeen Se Namkeen Tak’ and ‘Superhit’.

With the launch of these two new shows from 5 May, the original programming hours for the weekend will increase to 4.5 hours.

Currently, the channel has only two shows in the weekend comprising 2.5 hours of programming. Dance India Dance airs from 9-10.30 pm while ‘Fear Files – Dar Ki Sacchi Tasveerein’ has a one hour play from 10.30 pm.

The channel will launch new chat show ‘JuzzBaatt….Sangeen Se Namkeen Tak’ in the 7 pm slot. It will also launch a fiction show ‘Superhit’ from 5 May at 8 pm.

Thus, Zee TV’s weekend programming will start at 7 pm and will go all the way till 11.30 pm comprising two fiction and two non-fiction shows.

“We are increasing our weekend programming hours with two new shows ‘JuzzBaatt….Sangeen Se Namkeen Tak’ and ‘Superhit’,” Zee TV deputy business head Deepak Rajadhyaksha.

‘JuzzBaatt….Sangeen Se Namkeen Tak’ is co-produced by Sol Production and Sandip Sikchand Telefilms. Comprising 26 episodes, the show will be hosted by popular TV actor Rajeev Khandelwal.

In the show, Khandelwal will be chatting with some of the top faces from the television, film and sports fields. The candid chat show will offer viewers a glimpse into the personality into the life of celebrity and their closest relationships, struggles, adventures, victories, and setbacks. Through this chat show, the channel aims to inspire viewers through the stories of celebrities.

After the success of Jeena Isika Naam Hai which went off-air in 2008, this is the second chat show for the channel. Speaking about launching the shows after such a long gap, Rajadhyaksha said, “Zee recently completed its 25 anniversary and as we entered in our 26th year we wanted to offer something special for our viewers and we decided to do a talk show. Also, we felt it was a right time to do a talk show and we had the right resource.”

Talking about ‘Superhit’, Rajadhyaksha said that the show will feature actors from the channel’s on-going weekday shows. The show will feature new stories from its existing shows every week.

“We are creating a different brand with Superhit where we are taking Zee’s character and creating different stories for the weekend. For instance with Superhit- Woh Apna Sa we will take Woh Apna Sa artists and create a new fiction story altogether featuring several genres,” he added.
