MUMBAI: FastFilmz Media’s subscription-driven movie streaming app fastfilmz, which is dedicated to South Indian films, has entered the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh markets by adding over 70 Telugu titles including ‘Gopala Gopala’, ‘Drushyam’ and ‘Kick 2’.
The movie streaming app launched with 150+ hit HD Tamil movies, at the subscription price of Rs 10 per week or Rs 30 a month.
fastfilmz subscribers can share full movie downloads in under one minute and using zero data. The newly patented technology uses an encryption key to prevent piracy. The service is powered by V-Nova’s video compression technology Perseus.
fastfilmz is co-founded by Harvard and Kellogg alumni and previous employees of McKinsey & Company, UK, Dominic Charles and Karam Malhotra. The company has been funded by multiple angel investors from the USA and Europe.
The payment model has been simplified to appeal to the user, where the amount is deducted from the talk time and does not involve the hassle of having to pay by a debit/credit card or even a mobile wallet.
“We are very excited about our new offerings for the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh markets. While conducting our market study, we noticed that the regional movie consumption is as large as Bollywood. However, not all regional movie consumers have access to fast networks and affordable data to watch movies on their smartphones. This is where fastfilmz makes the movie-watching experience a lot more accessible and affordable,” said FastFilmz Media co-CEOs and co-founders Karam Malhotra and Dominic Charles.
