The users of free webmail service of Google – Gmail – can now view email messages from their old email accounts right in their new Gmail accounts. Google on Wednesday announced Gmail’s new “migration feature” that allows its users to migrate e-mails and contacts from other email services including Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, and some others.

“migration feature” allows users to have their email messages forwarded from their old accounts for 30 days; it gives them time to inform their friends or others about their new e-mail addresses, and of course they can check their old accounts as well.
Gmail engineer Chad Parry told that the “migration feature” is presently available only on the newly created Gmail accounts, but it will be available on all the existing accounts shortly. The new “migration feature” can be located as the "Accounts and Import" tab under the "Settings" section a Gmail account.
According to Parry, the new “migration feature” will not be available for schools and businesses using Google Apps, because they use e-mail addresses ending in their own domain instead of gmail.com.
