The government has approved the national integerated directory services (NIDQS) for mobile and fixed wireline services.
Department of telecom (DoT) has approved all the recommendations made by telecom regulatory Trai for mobile number directory.
In an internal meeting, top officials of DoT has accepted all the recommendations made by regulator Trai in 2008 for mobile directory services.
The only exception is that of offering only one licence for providing directory services.
Customers will have a five digit number to call for enquring about any phone number in the country.
Trai had earleir suggested a mobile directory for both pre-paid and post-paid customers...
The intergarted directory would be accessible on SMS too..
