MUMBAI: Amrita TV, the Malayalam general entertainment channel, is set to launch Samagamam, a sentimental re-union between a celebrity and a clutch of characters who played the lead roles in the screenplay of his life, in which they come together to evoke memories of important sequences from his yesterdays.
The hour-long show will be launched on 10 March and will be air every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm.
Filmy hotshots, political dignitaries, business moguls, heavyweights from sports and luminaries of art will feature by turns in Samagamam weekends.
Film director Kamal, on his first outing as TV host, will anchor the show.
Samagamam will be flagged off by Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The inaugural episode will steer around to the private side of the public figure and reveal the politician as a family man.
Combining the joys of re-union and the pangs of nostalgia, Amrita TV's new version of Samagamam promises unrehearsed, spontaneous moments of genuine emotional drama to fans craving for more details on their idols, youngsters keeping an eye out for cool shows and the general public clamouring for clean, wholesome entertainment, the channel said.
The abridged biographical narrative of the past of a prominent personality, Samagamam provides the setting for a gathering of long separated friends as well as close confidantes of the star, who take a stroll together down the memory lined avenues of his bygone days, to fill in the chapters of his prior life.
