Get ready for comedy all day everyday. The widely respected and loved 24-hour English comedy channel Comedy Central comes to Indian television with the express aim of owning the comedy space in the country.

The channel, Indian entertainment conglomerate Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd's sixth offering, launches today. The announcement was made by Ferzad Palia, Sr Vice President & General Manager, English Entertainment, Viacom18.

An excited Ferzad said, "India has never been more ready for a dedicated English comedy offering. We are delighted to add Comedy Central to our existing portfolio of brands. The service will deliver clever and disruptive content to our viewers; titles that have been handpicked from across the globe, especially for India. At Comedy Central India, we believe that everything in life can be looked at in a lighter vein. Hence, our philosophy - Laugh It Off - which will be brought to the fore in everything we do as a brand."

The channel will be available in approximately 20 million households across the country at launch and it will be available across analog, digital cable and DTH. Their reach will extend beyond television to on-ground comedy festivals and tours.

What to expect Expect the likes of award-winning shows The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and South Park along with global hits such as Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, The Office, and classics like Seinfeld, The Wonder Years and That 70s Show. The channel boasts some of the biggest titles in its programming line-up with a mix of all comedy genres - sitcoms to sketch comedies, British comedy, stand-up and gags, et al.
