Help Dell aims to be a complete solutions leader in India

Dell leaders today met a cross-section of media to update how the company is aggressively transforming itself to becoming a leading technology solutions provider to Indian customers – companies as well as home users – in a way that helps them leverage technology to grow and thrive.

Dell, completing a decade in India, became the country’s largest PC vendor in the year 2010 with a market share of 16.7%, consolidating its leadership in the notebooks segment (27%) while becoming the desktop leader for the first time in Q3 CY2010 (9.8%) ( As per IDC Q3 PC Pulse Tracker).

Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, President Dell India, emphasized, “Our leadership in the hardware PC business offers us a great opportunity to engage in close conversations with our customers across different segments to understand their needs and provide them with the right kind of technology solutions. With revamped product lines, we continue to cater to the specific requirements for each segment – corporate, small businesses, mobile professionals, GenY, gamers and more. At the same time, we have acquired new global capabilities in services and solutions to focus on emerging technology trends such as cloud and mobile computing with special focus on growth markets such as mid-sized businesses and emerging, fast-growing economies like India”.


* Dell launched Streak and entered the tablet category in India with the first tablet that could fit into your pocket or purse, designed especially for customers to watch, surf, connect, listen, and play on 5” of power and portability.
* Dell entered the smartphones segment with XCD28 and XCD35, its first value-smartphones for emerging markets, debuting in India. The new reinvigorated XPS line of products heralded the return of the XPS brand to deliver high-quality multimedia with JBL speakers, aimed at creating compelling consumer experiences. It is the industry’s first Skype-certified laptop range with HD-video streaming webcams to stay close to your friends and family.
* Dell continued to create new benchmarks in the gaming segment with its Alienware offerings. It launched the first 2ND Generation Intel Core processor laptop with the new Alienware M17x and also the first Alienware Gaming Zone and exclusive retail store in India, bringing 3D gaming to Bangalore.

SMB (Small & Medium Businesses)

* Dell expanded its SMB-dedicated PC range with the launch of Vostro V130, a durable, high-quality laptop designed to give small businesses style and substance.
* Dell entered the printer category by introducing a comprehensive range of printing devices for home offices, small and medium businesses and workgroups. The range of printers being launched include the 1250C, the world’s smallest single-function A4 color laser-class printer and a host of monochrome printers including the multifunction 1133 and single-function printers – 2230d, 1130, 1130n, 2330d, 2330dn.
* The India-originated Dell SMB Take Your Own Path campaign that has now gone global, continued to create role models within Indian entrepreneurs on how emerging businesses may use technology to scale up, with two new successful “heroes” added to the campaign: Mr. Vishvas Chitale, Chitale Dairy and Mr. Subrahmanyam Yadavalli, CoOptions Technologies.
* Dell Consultive – A Partner Storage Summit- Dell launched a channel-specific initiative as a part of its focus towards offering storage & data-management solutions to its SMB customers, backed by training and certification programs as well as incentives for channel partners to sell Dell storage solutions.


* Dell Services provided Max Healthcare with the ‘Cloud’ Advantage – converting the information technology infrastructure of all eight Max Healthcare facilities into a private MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) cloud running remotely from Dell Services Data Centre in Noida.

Large Enterprise

* Dell expanded its cloud-based services portfolio to simplify IT management and reduce costs with SaaS solutions.
* Focused on open solutions for the virtual era, Dell led the way for open platforms that give customers an alternative to closed, proprietary stacks. It announced new integrated, interoperable and modular platforms empower customers to build highly virtualized datacenters and cloud computing platforms.
* Dell announced its new Virtual Integration System (VIS) that help customers transition new and existing technologies to an open, cloud-like model that dynamically provisions application workloads and unifies heterogeneous compute, storage and networking assets into a common pool of resources.


* Dell launched its education-centric solution – the Connected Classroom equipping students & teachers in India with 21st century skills thus transforming the learning environment for the digital age.

Dell Leaders on Way Forward & Priorities for Financial Year 2012

Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, President at Dell India: “Dell is clearly changing as a company.
