Dehra Dun, Dec 29 (PTI) The Uttarakhand government today launched 'Edusat' network in Doon University here, with an aim of providing interactive satellite based education system to college students living in remote areas.
A total of 25 degree colleges, including those situated in remote areas of Munsyari, Purola and Bedikhal have been initially linked to Uttarakhand Edusat network. Shortly other colleges would also be linked with the programme.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank described the launch of Edusat as a revolutionary step in the field of higher education and said the programme would also prove useful in carrying out development and planning works of the government.
The Edusat network has been jointly developed by Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) with the help of state higher education department. Its studio has been built in the campus of Doon University.
