California, Jul 7: It seems like Google+ is haunting Facebook! After a series of rumours and speculations, the world's largest social networking site Faceboook has announced the launch of Video Chat feature on its platform with the help of Skype, one of the popular internet telephony service.

Facebook added video calling service just after a week its rival Google revealed a brand new social networking site dubbed as Google+ (Google Plus) with video chating feature Hangouts, that allows live chat with ten friends simultaneously.

According to Facebook, this is "the world's easiest one-click way" to chat over video. Currently, Facebook video chat is available in selected market only, but soon it will be extended to all parts of the world. Those who have webcams with their computers can use the new feature.

Once Facebook adds this service, users can see a "call" button at the top of users' profile pages. By clicking on this users can see a small blue video icon and will start the video chat. Facebook said that its 700 million plus users can chat with more than one friend at a time.

During the announcement of Facebook video chat service, founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company will add "premium" Skype functions to the platform. He laso added, "this type of thing is only possible because of the social infrastructure that already exists."

Even though some users faced technical glitches while using video chat, some others reported that it was working for them. Some users got the error message that reads, "The software that powers video calling is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Facebook also added some other features to its platform to beat the Google+. The Instant messaging (IM) service got on-the-fly group conversations. Moreover, Facebook CEO said that it had more than 750 million users around the globe.
