Chennai: As part of its move to streamline cable TV operations in the state and take on the Sun Network Group, the Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday invited tenders for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 16 analog cable TV head ends at 16 places across the state. This is part of the AIADMK government’s effort to get the state-owned Arasu Cable Corporation back on track.

Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) sources told TOI that as part of the procurement process, it has invited tenders for four packages. Apart from installation of analog cable TV head ends, the other packages are to supply optic fibre cables and other accessories with a tender value of Rs 5 crore. The closing date for the etender is July 29, 2011.

According to the bid, 30 districts including Chennai and other corporations will be covered.
