BANGALORE: The Consumer Forum has directed Sun Direct TV Pvt Ltd to refund the cost of a DTH package along with a compensation of Rs 2,000 to a complainant after it was established that the audio and video quality deteriorated after installing the DTH.
R Murali, a resident of Vijaya Bank Layout, purchased a DTH package from the company after its executive assured that he can access clear quality pictures through it. He subscribed to a package to access 130 different channels including all Kannada channels and some radio channels and paid Rs 1,690 as activation charges. The quality of the pictures that was being accessed through the DTH was not very good and at times some of the channels were not accessible. Moreover, the radio channels were not accessible.
Despite complaining many times, the company failed to rectify the defects.
Murali filed a complaint with the Consumer Forum and sought a compensation of Rs 75,000 as damage for all the frustration that he underwent along with the cost of the DTH.
Third Additional Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, headed by its president Rajashekharaiah, directed Sun Direct TV Pvt Ltd to refund the cost of the DTH along with Rs 2,000 compensation to the complainant.
