Help Vodafone 555 Blue “Facebook Phone” Launching In India Today
Advertisement
#1
Information
Vodafone India has partnered with Facebook in India for the launch of new ‘Vodafone 555 Blue’ aka the ‘Facebook Phone’. HTC ChaCha will now have a competition. The phone is primarily aimed at Facebook addicted users who don’t want to miss out on a single FB update. Whether the Vodaphone’s Facebook phone will be different from the version available in the UK is not clear yet, it’s being guessed that the Vodafone will launch the exact same model in India. Vodafone is also going to offer attractive pre-paid and post-paid data plans so that you can make some serious use of the new 555 Blue phone. The phone has a dedicated Facebook Button that lets you access Facebook application on the phone instantly. Let’s take a look at what the phone offers in terms of technical specifications and features -

The Vodafone 555 Blue offers a 2.4″ QVGA display with 320×240 pixel resolution. Note that the screen on this phone is not a touch screen. The phone offers full QWERTY keypad with a dedicated Facebook key. The space key is bigger than what you’d typically find on regular QWERTY phones. Under the hood, the phone offers 200 MHz MediaTek processor, Bluetooth 2.1, GPRS & EDGE, a decent 2MP camera with LED flash. Also included is an email client with IMAP and POP3 support. You can add up to 32 GB of external memory through microSD slot. The phone has only 40 MB of Internal memory so we’d recommend having at least a 2GB micro SD card which is available for about Rs. 250 in India. The phone also offers FM radio and 3.5 MM stereo headphone jack. The phone ships preloaded with Opera Mini browser for faster mobile surfing. But be alert that if you’ve ever used 3G, you won’t like surfing the web on GPRS or EDGE connection.

The price of the phone is estimated to be in the range of Rs. 4000 – Rs. 6000. Of course, for this price range, we don’t expect this phone to have 3G, GPS and WiFi connectivity options; which would have been a great plus. Vodafone is eyeing a good bunch of 33 million Indians who are active Facebook users. Let us know if you’re buying this phone. Of course, we’d love to hear your opinion about this phone.
