Istanbul (Turkey), Mar 12 (PTI) Top seeded Grandmaster Koneru Humpy will challenge joint leader Martha Baquero Fierro of Ecuador in the fifth round of IS Bank Ataturk Women Grand Prix Chess tournament here.

After the first rest day, the Indian stands joint third and will have an opportunity to come forward in standings if she wins against Martha who has been the surprise package here with three wins and just a lone draw.

Interestingly, the Ecuadorian was not a part of the line up and came in as a last minute replacement to Zhu Chen of Qatar who decided to opt out.

As things stand, Yifan Hao of China and Martha share the lead on 3.5 points out of a possible four while Humpy and Zhao Xue of China are sharing the third spot a half point behind.

Armenian Elina Danielian is on the fifth spot on 2.5 points, half a point ahead of Antoaneta Stefanova of Bulgaria and Marie Sebag of France.

Second seed Yifan has been the best player so far having displayed high-quality chess against strong opposition.

The Chinese teenager has already played and beaten the likes of Antoaneta and Pia Cramling of Sweden and her lone draw was against Maia Chiburdanidze of Georgia in the first round. PTI
