Hi friends,
I have got a dish now aligned to 68.5*E, and wondering if its possible to fix additional C' band lnb to track 66*E Intelsat17. I dont want to loose Intelsat10 after going for Intelsat-17.

Any tips or ideas easily done; Hope our experts can guide me in this part..?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mr.AB,

This is the suggestion given by me to my colleague Mr.Subramaniam from Malaysia to receive both Intelsat 10 and Intelsat 17 on a single dish.
You may try this. The LNBFs were connected with a metallic strip made out of a clamp drilled and fixed with screws. Will post pic of that clamp too.

Try to post the clamp too if you have got the picture of it.. regards,

A Dual LNB Scalar Ring may help but it is not so flexible to adjust the look angle or LNB separation. Also its availability is uncertain in some places.

A drilled metal strip is a quick and cheaper way to achieve this with sufficient flexibility.

Simply joining the 2 simple scalar rings of the LNBFs with a long screw / metal wire will also work fine.
No need of a clamp too with this "screw sharing" approach Smile

Thanks again Vinay... Smile That gives a clear pic, how much distance for both lnb's... I may try it out this weekend.. regards,

The feedhorn mouths of the LNBFs should be approximately 5cm to 10cm apart.
The distance and tilt may need to be adjusted for optimizing reception.
Here is an illustration of the "single screw approach"
Note: Intelsat 17 LNB will be slightly lower than the one for Intelsat 10 by a few mm.

Doesnt it catch 1.5 degree distance satellite like KU lnb. Example is Dish TV + DD Direct satellite catch by Dish TV dish which distance is only of 1.5 degree. Doesnt it happen with C band lnb?

Thanks.

Well, the Ku-band satellite signals are quite strong compared to C-band signals, so nearby located satellites an be received by using single LNB.

Also Intelsat 17 sometimes gives the problem of weak signals. So it is recommended to have a second LNBF for Intelsat 10.

Tried last night to get both 68 and 66 on same dish, but cudnt succeed. I fixed the dish pointed to 66 only for the time being. Happy though, as i got the max signal for 66, as never before. Getting 11 or more TP's with full signal with total 132 Channels now.

@Vinay, Again thanks for your tips as surely it will help many. I may try it out later, after drilling the second scalar ring and fix it together. 68*E (Intelsat10) does not carry much channels that I watch/intersted. But good to have it for tracking purposes. Peppers and one another tamil music channel is there and i like to have it. I think i will also try to go for 75 or Thaicom later, on the same 66 dish.
Regards,
