IndiaCan and NDTV Worldwide has announced a strategic partnership to launch a programme in broadcast journalism across the country.

NDTV Worldwide, part of the NDTV Group, India’s first and leading private broadcaster for news, current affairs and lifestyle television and IndiaCan, a joint venture between Educomp (India’s largest education company) and Pearson (an international media company with world-leading businesses in education, business information and consumer publishing), have entered into an arrangement for introducing a broadcast journalism training programme that leverages the strengths of both partners.

Broadcast journalism today is an exciting and fulfilling career, pitching its practitioners at the heart of extraordinary changes in one of the world’s most dynamic societies. With the growth in the broadcast media space across India, more specifically in regional television, the programme aims to address the requirement of the industry - quality candidates equipped with fine journalism skills and the necessary practical experience.

“NDTV has set pioneering benchmarks across news and television broadcasting, while sticking to the highest professional standards. So we are delighted with this association between IndiaCan and NDTV Worldwide, a model that represents the best in our respective fields,” said Sharad Talwar, CEO, IndiaCan.

“We are pleased to associate with IndiaCan, a leader in education and training segment in this pioneering effort. Together with IndiaCan’s distribution reach and over 21 years of our broadcast experience, we aim to deliver quality broadcast education, aligned with the latest trends and technology that would enable each trainee to confidently walk into any television station tomorrow”, said Shyatto Raha, CEO, NDTV Worldwide.

“This alliance between India’s leading private broadcaster NDTV & IndiaCan is the start of a new journey in the field of broadcast education for the young aspiring minds of today. It will throw up an enormous opportunity to the large student base in the country to develop an unparalleled expertise by leveraging the rich experiences of the partners”, said Srinath Venkatesh, Head, Vocational Business, IndiaCan.

“NDTV’s Media Institute is proud to partner with NDTV Worldwide and IndiaCan in offering students across India an opportunity to train with latest methodologies of broadcast journalism. The success of our courses under the NDTV Media Institute gives us a huge leveraging platform to expand the training course across India”, said Sanjay Nigam, CEO of the NDTV Media Institute.

In its first year the NDTV- IndiaCan Broadcast Journalism programme will be launched across 10 centres, primarily in metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune and Chandigarh. In the second year, more centres will be added in other cities, with the aim of making the programme easily accessible to people across the country.

While expanding our reach, the number of students in a batch will be limited to ensure quality training is delivered along with appropriate mentorship. Over the coming years NDTV Worldwide and IndiaCan will look to provide high-calibre professionals, fully equipped to handle the demands of the broadcasting industry.

One of the highlights of the programme will be an internship with NDTV awarded to the top-performing candidates.
