LG GC990 Shows Its 12MP Camera

South Korean mobile phone maker LG has unveiled to the world a brand new handset, dubbed LG GC990 Louvre. The device, showcased at the Korea Products Exhibition held in Warsaw, seems determined to show that Samsung and Sony Ericsson are not the only mobile phone makers that can come to the market with a 12MP camera phone.

The 12MP photo snapper present with the new LG handset features auto focus and is said to include HD video recording capabilities (1280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps). The camera also sports Schneider-Kreuznach optics, Xenon flash and touch focus. Moreover, the new 12MP behemoth also features ISO up to 3200 capabilities, geo-tagging and zero shutter lag, meaning that users will be able to take pictures as fast as they would do with a dedicated camera.

For what it's worth, there are not too many mobile phones on the market at the moment to feature the same high-end capabilities when it comes to their camera. The HD video recording functionality can be spotted only with Samsung's i8910 Omnia HD, while a 12MP camera will only be available later this year with either Samsung's M8910 Pixon12 or Sony Ericsson's Satio (Nokia has been also rumored to prep such a device, though nothing conclusive has emerged until now).

The new LG GC990 Louvre seems to be capable of delivering both HD recording and a high-resolution camera, which sounds like a great thing, at least for enthusiasts. In addition to that, the new mobile phone also comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that supports up to 16M colors, Wi-Fi with DLNA, TV-out, and GPS receiver. An accelerometer sensor, A-GPS support and Bluetooth connectivity are also present on the spec list.

The mobile phone maker has packed the new LG GC990 Louvre with its latest S-Class Touch UI, while also designing it to support DivX and Xvid video formats. Unfortunately, it seems that no details on when the phone will come to the market have been unveiled, nor on the price tag it might sport when it will be available for purchase.
