MUMBAI: In one of the biggest shakeups in the slowdown-hit media industry, 50 senior professionals are exiting Multi Screen Media, formerly Sony Entertainment Television. There’s no official word on what led to the terminations but the departures began with the resignation of CEO Kunal Dasgupta last month. Business Head Albert Almeida who quit two days ago, said: “I will announce my plans by the month end.” He added: “Yes, more senior people are moving too but I don’t know the number.”

MSM spokesperson Shola Rajachandran confirmed Almeida’s movement but denied knowledge of more “resignations.” COO of MSM, N P Singh, did not comment.

Dasgupta, a Sony veteran, left last month reportedly over a controversy regarding DTH sponsorship rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Board of Control for Cricket in India had demanded compensation from MSM, which holds IPL broadcast rights, after Big TV walked out of an on-ground deal citing conflict of interest.
