The series include two new ‘rough and tough’ phones E-Mail Print Motorola has announced the launch of its FR Series of enterprise grade, rough and tough handsets in India.

The series include two new phones, the FR 6000 and the FR68-both of which are aimed at enterprise level consumers and users. Designed for weathering tough working environments and conditions, both the phones offer smartphone abilities and can go places where no smartphone might have been ever been before.

Both the phones come equipped with 3.5G HSDPA/WAN and GPS navigation and a 1D laser scanner built in along with Bluetooth and IrDA. On the imaging front, one of the models, the FR68 features a decent 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus and not to mention optical character recognition.

The number crunching is handled by an XScale PXA312 624MHZ processor on both the devices. Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 finds its way in as the Operating System for both. The device is designed to survive three-foot drops on a concrete floor. It is also resistant to sand, dust and water and almost anything that will decimate most other phones. According to Enterpriser.in, Motorola will also provide its FR series customer service from the first day of the hardware purchase. This includes compete cover and guarantee of repairs no matter whatever damage the device may incur — from broken displays and keypads to damages to any internal and external components.

Both the devices will be available later this year and are expected to cost between Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 100,000.
