NEW DELHI: National Geographic Channel India has obtained government approvals for three channels - Fox Crime, FX and Baby TV - and is set to launch them by next quarter.

NGC is awaiting clearances for four other channels - Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Adventure, Nat Geo Music and Nat Geo HD.

Says NGC India senior vice president content and communication Rajesh Sheshadri, “We have got licences for Baby TV, Fox Crime and FX. We are looking at launching them by next quarter. As for the other four, we hope to get the clearances soon.”

NGC plans to have two separate entities - the National Geographic channels and the Fox channels.

Fox Crime, FX and Baby TV will launch on digital platforms including direct-to-home (DTH).

While Fox Crime will have a mix of crime series and movies, Baby TV will be targeted towards children below the age group of three years and their parents. FX will have action, sports, comedy and technology series besides movies.

Going forward, the the three channels will add local flavour. Says Sheshadri, “Like with Fox History and Nat Geo, we are looking at introducing some local element. It has to be an international channel with local sensibility.”

Meanwhile, Fox History and Entertainment is refreshing its programming lineup. The channel will soon introduce its flagship programme The Tudors. The marketing for the new show will begin just ahead of 27 March through the NGC television network and extend to print, online and outdoor of home (OOH) platforms.

In April, Fox History and Entertainment will launch Iconoclasts while in May will surface the show Deconstructing Designs Icons.
