MUMBAI: National Geographic Channel (NGC) will air its new local show, Apollo Flight of the Hawkz, in the first quarter of 2010.

Presented by Nethra Raghuraman, the show will look at combining the passion for off-roading with unmatched thrills and dare. The extreme adventure challenge is designed to test the physical ability and the mental agility of the adventure enthusiasts.

NGC has tied up with English news channel NDTV for the same. As the official English news channel partner, the series will be promoted on NDTV through an integration with The Car and Bike Show, hosted by Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, across all phases of Apollo Flight of the Hawkz. Patankar will keep viewers updated through his show.

Apollo Flight of the Hawkz will cover various terrains across India with 12 teams of two members each, selected from across the country.

As partner, The Car and Bike Show will not only create buzz around the series but will also push weekly call for entries on the show.

NGC India senior VP– content and communication Rajesh Sheshadri says, "Apollo Flight of the Hawkz promises to take adventure television to the next level with a heady mix of SUVs, stunts, mind-games and dares. Besides being the most daring show that we have attempted in India, it is also a complete outdoor experience."

NDTV auto editor Siddharth Vinayak Patankar says, "I am quite excited to bring all the exclusive action from Apollo Flight of the Hawkz to the viewers of my show. The concept of the series fits well with the interest of our viewers and at NDTV we are confident that they would appreciate the same."

As part of the Nat Geo series, the participants will cover around 120 kms per day on tricky terrains, crack intelligent mind games, take up thrilling and never-seen-before adventure tasks, like stand up paddling, tight rope walking, monkey crawling and also maneuver their SUVs through incomparable obstacles and of course the climax of it in every episode would be the final dares, which will see the participants zipline between dangerous valleys and bungee jump off a crane.

At the end of this seven-day long Lavasa to Goa driving adventure, the winning team will get to go on a fully-paid adventure trip for two to Masai Mara, South Africa.
