New BMW X5 launched, priced at Rs 52.99-69.5 lakhs

The leader in luxury premium cars in India, BMW India launched a brand new variant of the Bimmer's most popular SUV BMW X5. This rebirth comes as a move to capture a greater share in the fastest growing automobile market globally, the Indian automobile market. The X5 was originally launched in 2006 and this all news X5 is an upgraded version of the same.



The X5 would be available in two variants with the fuel options of both Petrol and Diesel. The X5 xdrive50i is the petrol variant that comes with a power of 407 BHP and 600 NM torque at 1750-4500 RPM. It has been shelved at Rs 69.5 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). While, the diesel variant, X5 xdrive30D would offer a power of 245 BHP and 540 NM torque at 1750-3000 RPM. It is priced at Rs 52.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).



Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW India said that the new BMW X5 continues to set the standards in driving dynamics, combining more than ever before the fascinating driving experience offered by a BMW X model with outstanding efficiency. Its expressive design, innovative features and its premium character render the new BMW X5 the ultimate ambassador of its segment in every sense of the word.

The new BMW X5 remains a benchmark and with greater supremacy than ever; it combines the joy of driving with elegance, efficiency, safety and unmatched performance. He also said that the company is confident that the trend-setting qualities of the new BMW X5 will win admiration amongst individuals who do not negotiate on luxury and performance whether on or off-road.


This premium beauty would be our for delivery October onwards. Both variants will be available in India as CBU (completely built-up unit) and the all India ex-showroom prices are 69,50,000 INR for X5 xDrive50i : 69,50,000 INR and 52,99,000 INR for X5 xDrive30d. The new BMW X5 will be available in Alpine White as non-metallic paintwork and in Black Sapphire, Space Grey, Titanium Silver and Platinum Bronze metallic colours. In addition, Deep Sea Blue, Platinum Grey and Sparkling Bronze are new colours in the range of metallic colours available for the new BMW X5.


Nevada leather is the standard upholstery for the new BMW X5 and is available in Beige, Black, Oyster, Cinnamon Brown and Tobacco colors. Perforated Beige and Perforated Black is available with the Luxury Package. The newly interpreted design vocabulary typical of BMW X models comprises above all the structure of the front apron and the position of the standard fog lamps as well as a redesigned rear apron adopting the structure of the front end. An increase in the percentage of front and rear end surfaces painted in body colour emphasises the on-road characteristics of the BMW X5, thereby reflecting the vehicle’s higher level of sportiness. With its distinctively contoured bonnet, large-sized BMW kidney grille and dual round headlights slightly cut off at the top, the new BMW X5 boasts a strikingly expressive front end that symbolises power and presence.



In conjunction with the Xenon headlights, fitted as standard, the dual round headlights incorporate LED Corona Rings. The L-shaped, redesigned taillights, each with two homogeneously illuminated LED light banks, reflect the brand-typical nighttime design of the rear end. The interior of the new BMW X5 is characterised by a generous amount of space and a modern, sophisticated design. In addition to the high seating position, the BMW X5 can accommodate up to seven persons with the optional third-row seats.


The new top-of-the-range model is the BMW X5 xDrive50i, whose V8 power unit featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo and direct petrol injection (High Precision Injection) has an output of 300 kW/407 hp. It produces a maximum torque of 600 Nm at 1,750 – 4,500 rpm and accelerates from 0 – 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds.The all-aluminium six-cylinder diesel with TwinPower Turbo and Common Rail direct injection featured in the BMW X5 xDrive30d delivers an output of 180 kW/245 hp. It produces a maximum torque of 540 Nm at 1,750 – 3,000 rpm and accelerates from 0 – 100 kmph in 7.6 seconds.

All versions of the new BMW X5 are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard equipment of the new BMW X5 also includes the speed-dependent Servotronic steering assistance system. The new BMW X5 is equipped as standard with the latest generation of the iDrive control system. The new BMW X5 offers a multitude of unique driver assistance systems for optimising comfort, the use of infotainment functions as well as safety.


One feature that has caught every one's imagination is the technology of brake energy regeneration, wherein the driver stops accelerating, and the released kinetic energy is transformed into electrical energy. BMW India is expanding its presence with some intelligent moves lately and hope this one proves to be a milestone.
