In a bid to bolster its sports broadcasting business, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) is launching an exclusive cricket channel, Ten Cricket, that will coincide with the ODI Tri-series between India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
The Tri-series, which kicks off on 10 August and runs through to 28 August, will also be telecast live on Ten Sports.
With the launch of Ten Cricket, Zeel will position Ten Sports as a multi-products channel with properties such as WWE, tennis and motor racing among others.
Indiantelevision.com was the first to report that Zeel would be launching a dedicated cricket channel titled Ten Cricket. Ten Sports would also show cricket as there are many properties that would overlap.
Earlier this year, Zeel, which had 50 per cent stake in Ten Sports, bought out the entity. Ten Sports has the rights to Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe cricket.
