First Android Tablet PC for India The Olive Pad VT100 – Full specifications and features

Olive telecom has become the first Indian company to launch an Android based tablet ‘The Olive Pad VT100‘ in India. The device is holding some pretty cool features and is ready to take on the biggest competitors like Dell, Asus and Apple which are scheduled to launch their tablets in India later in the year. The very stylish looks combined with some superb features at a very handy price all of these make the Olive a mouthwatering device for the tech freaks of the country.

OlivePad VT100: Full Specifications, Price and Availability in India

Specs wise the device is something which everyone can live with. the 7 inch capacitive screen, Qualcomm MSM7227 processor and Android 2.1 operating system all add towards making it a very handy and powerful device for its users. It is disappointing to see the availability of only 512 MB ROM and it may affect the device’s performance but the 32GB internal memory card should help in eliminating that shortcoming of the device. The tablet is capable of making video and voice calls on a 3G network with its CDMA capabilities. The network on the tablet is not exclusive and will be available to all players.

The MSM7227 chipset features a 600 MHz applications processor with a floating point unit, 320 MHz application DSP, 400 MHz modem processor, hardware-accelerated 3D graphics, integrated Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS, 8 megapixel camera and 30 fps WVGA video encode and decode and display support. The device also features a built in 3 MP camera and a VGA front camera for the video calling facility although the cameras are not something to be written home about but the cost of the device I guess balances the same. the device features a 3240mAh battery that is supposed to give a stand by time of something in between of 400 to 500 hours, which indeed is very good for any tablet PC.

The Wi-Fi capabilities of the device is good but in my opinion it could have been better the tablet supports only the 801.11b/g networks whereas the latest 802.11n seems to be missing. The device is boasting the Ambient light sensor, the compass and the G-sensor which indeed is something that one should look out for. The email facilities are excellent with the support for pull email, MMS, WAP, GPS and PC-sync. There is a set of dual speakers provided for excellent sound quality and a built in e book reader for reading eBooks. There is a mini USB port that has been provided by the device so that the device can be charged in power and also share data. Some things which can be listed as missing is the HDMI port which has become an essential in today’s PC’s.

The company says the it’s launching in India first but has seen interest in Central, Eastern Europe and Russia and expects to launch Olive Pad in those markets in the near future.
