PIX announces the telecast of FA Cup 2009-10…LIVE!

MUMBAI: PIX, the premiere English movie channel from Multi Screen Media Pvt Ltd formerly known as Sony Entertainment Network announces the telecast of UK’s much awaited Football Association Challenge Cup popularly known as the FA Cup starting November 07, 2009, LIVE and Exclusive. FA Cup 2009-10 is all set for the 129th season LIVE on PIX for the second successive year.

In the previous year of the FA Cup, 762 clubs participated in the competition. This year the competition commenced on 15 August 2009 with the Extra Preliminary Round and will conclude on 15 May 2010. The FA Cup is a knockout tournament with pairings drawn completely at random - there are no seeds, and a draw takes place after the majority of fixtures have been played in each round.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Sunder Aaron, Business Head PIX said, “Passion for football is rapidly gaining popularity with a large section of our viewers. As a treat to all football lovers we bring the best in football action- FA Cup live from the stadiums this year too. Wide array of movies coupled with exciting football action is a double whammy for all movie and football fans.”

PIX have been able to establish its audience base as it reaches out to more viewers. The channel is a keen promoter of LIVE events with music concerts like Peace Concert, BAFTA Awards, Goal for Africa Charity match, FA Cup 2008 and FA Community Shield Cup all being telecast on PIX in the past.

FA Cup is the oldest and best domestic cup competition in the world. The Cup Final has been played at Wembley stadium every year, excluding the war years, until 2000. The FA Cup has become established as one of the country's great sporting institutions. It is now over 130 years old and yet, season by season, it generates tremendous interest not only in the country of its birth but all over the world. The history and tradition of the competition, and the pageantry of the Cup Final, is familiar to millions.

The first round matches start from 7th Nov 09, followed by the second round from - 28th Nov 09, moving on to the third round from - 2nd Jan 2010, fourth round from - 23rd Jan 2010, fifth round from - 13th Feb 2010 and finally the sixth round matches from 6th March 09. The semi finals are scheduled for 10th and 11th April 2010 and the finals for 15th May 2010.
