Work at Reliance Communications’ 3G Innovation Lab has started with hopes of providing the operator with applications that will drive higher data consumption among mobile phone users as the company launches third generation (3G) wireless services.
But the real objective of developing this lab is to eventually spin it off into an independent service provider for other operators as well, Prashant Gokarn, head – 3G Business, told ET. RCOM recently won 3G spectrum in 13 service areas.
