MUMBAI: Raj Musix Kannada – a 24 hour Kannada music channel has been launched by the Raj Television Network on Friday.
The network, which boasts a slew of channels in Chennai, is foraying into Karnataka with this music channel. Raj TV has tied up with MQ Networks Pvt. Ltd., a professionally managed multi media company for exclusively handling the Raj Musix Kannada operations in Karnataka.
MQ Networks, a Bangalore based 360 degree media company, is providing the entire content and management to the Channel. MQ Networks managing director M S Mahesh says, “Raj Musix Kannada will offer an array of refreshingly new programs to the viewers. The content is aimed at the upwardly mobile Kannada youth in the age group of 12 to 24 and will offer them a never before viewed experience.” The channel has roped in Arvind Kumar, former deputy CEO of Zee Telefilms and a media professional with over 25 years experience in Media, Advertising and Marketing as its CEO.
Talking about the group’s plans for Karnataka, Raj Tv managing director Raajhendhran says, “The Kannada market is now maturing and we felt it is the right time to step into this region and replicate our success in Tamil Nadu”. We have tied up with MQ Networks, a Bangalore based professional media company, to handle the entire programming, production and marketing of the channel."
Raj Musix (Kannada) is the third music channel in that language, following SS Music and U2 from the Sun TV Network stable. The music channel, for Raj TV, is based on a low investment and high return model.
Raj Musix will offer to the Kannada viewers, an experience in their own language, on the lines of a VH1 or MTV. “It will not only offer non-stop entertainment to its Viewers but also shares with them an attitude, Poise and the outlook to face today’s world. We are striving to see that urban youth identify with this channel and wear it on their sleeve, like a fashion statement – like its cool to be with Raj Musix,” says Raj Musix CEO Arvind Kumar.
Raj Musix will include phone-in shows, SMS requests and celebrity chat shows. The 24-hour music channel will target the youth as well as music lovers.
MQ Networks executive director Prasanna Vasantha Kumar says, “We have designed shows to suit the moods of our viewers during various times of the day. Escape, Sakkath, Majaa madi, famous, bombart are some of our shows named after the typical lingo of today’s youth and strike an instant cord with them.”
The channel has been on test mode for the last two weeks and is officially being launched on Friday. Raj has tied up with most of the MSOs and operators across the state. Post the launch of Raj Musix, Raj Network will be launching a Kannada News Channel soon and subsequently plans to launch a Kannada a GEC and Kannada movie channel, it is learnt.
