Mobile value-added services (VAS) provider Spice Digital has signed an agreement with Zoom Developers for rolling out mobile governance services in Himachal Pradesh, the company said on Monday.

"Spice Digital has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zoom Developers for starting mobile governance services from common service centres being run by Zoom Developers in the state," Spice Digital said in a statement.

The MoU was signed between Vinish Kathuria, chief operating officer of Spice Digital, and A.K. Tiwari, head e-governance of Zoom Developers, at the India International Trade Fair in Delhi Sunday.

Spice Televentures chairman Dilip Modi said Spice Digital would provide VAS through 600 common service centres to the people of Hamirpur, Una, Chamba and Kangra districts.

A government spokesperson said 400 more such centres would be established in the state.

"On an average, one common service centre will be set up for six villages which will be run by locals, who will be trained by Zoom Developers," the spokesperson said.

For getting information on the mobile phones, the users would be required to get themselves registered with the common service centres.

Spice Digital would provide the services only to the registered customers.

"Information relating to agriculture, horticulture, weather report and government schemes would also be provided to the residents on their mobile phones," said the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, Modi Sunday launched the "Spice Guide to Himachal" scheme under which all mobile phones with GPRS facilities would be able to get any information regarding the hill state.
