MUMBAI: Star Gold, the Hindi movie channel from the Star stable, has rolled out a laughter momentum with the 'Comedy Honours Movie Festival.'
The month-long festival, which kickstarted on Monday, 25 May, will see comedy movies airing every Thursday to Sunday at 8 pm. The line up includes films like Haseena Maan Jayegi, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, Welcome, Namak Halal and Hero No 1.
The channel claims that the films have been chosen on popularity basis. "With classic comedies like Bluffmaster, Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azaam, Shaadi No.1 and Style taking over the screens, viewers are bound to experience a mirthful week filled with excitement," said Star Gold spokesperson Anita Chhatriya.
Additionally, the channel will follow up the movie festival with 'Hasi ka Hafta', a week-full of comic scenes, trivia, snippets and dialogue-based shows culminating to the grand finale of Comedy Honors 2009.
Also, Laughter Challenge's comic stars Raja and Rancho will entertain the audiences with a special dedicated segment, 101 Comedy Scenes, in weekends at 10.30 am on Saturdays and 12 noon on Sundays.
The 'Comedy Honours' awards will be culminating the month-long comedy extravaganza, the nominations of which will be based on box-office performance of films. The date of the on-ground award ceremony is still being worked out but the on-air award function has been fixed for 27 June.
