MUMBAI: If not movies, it is events that is becoming the decider for the No. 1 spot in the Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) space. Star Plus has jumped back to its leadership position after three weeks on back of Star Parivaar Awards which gave the channel a boost of 42 GRPs (gross rating points) along with a TVR of 5.7 for the week ended 13 June.
As per Tam data (C&S 4+), Star Plus added 20 GRPs from its previous week's tally to pocket 266 GRPs. Colors, on the other hand, shed 38 GRPs to end the week with a score of 232 GRPs.
Meanwhile, sustaining the third spot is Zee TV with 221 GRPs. The channel's rating fell marginally by 14 GRPs (See table for details).

The movie game slackened this week with Colors, Star Plus and Zee TV reducing the number of movie airings and no significant big title coming the way.
Star Plus clocked 26 GRPs from the seven movies it aired in the week, including Mumbai Meri Jaan. Colors, which aired five movies, including Chandni Chowk To China, bagged 29 GRPs, while Zee TV pocketed 17 GRPs from three films.
So who leads just on the programming ratings? In the closest battle possible, Zee TV (204 GRPs) is ahead of Colors with one GRP. Star Plus lags behind with 198 GRPs.
Guessing the winner for the next week is a difficult proposition as the somersault game continues.
