One of the smallest Android-based smartphones, the all new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, an update version of the Xperia X10, with its innovative supports and compact looks, has been finally launched in India. The handset has been priced at Rs. 15,000, and though it looks to be quite simple, it does prove to be an eye-catchter in the crowd. It has been made available in different shades- red, silver, pearl white, black, pink or lime.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini handset, being based on the Android 1.6 operating system (not the Froyo, to the dissatisfaction of many), does seem to be an approachable phone according to its price. With the dimensions of 83 x 50 x 16 mm, and a weight of about 88 gm., this smartphone is accompanied by a 240 x 320 pixels TFT capacitive touchscreen, with the support for 16M colours of size 2.55 inch, the Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 Mini handset provides the support for GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 on 2G network, as well as HSDPA 900 / 2100 and HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 on 3G network.

The features such as scratch-resistant surface, accelerometer sensor for user interface auto-rotate, and Timescape user interface, makes the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini smartphone a remarkable one. In the category of data transfer and connectivity, this feature-rich handset supports Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots) GPRS with 32 – 48 Kbps, Class 10, 236.8 kbps EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, 3G in HSDPA and HSUPA, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, and a micro USB port of v2.0, though not accompanied by an infrared port. Though the device does not support the high-speed ‘n’ network connectivity through Wi-Fi, the above available options do compensate for this.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini smartphone is provided with a Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz processor, HTML browser, support for games, stereo FM Radio with RDS, messaging through SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push email, IM; A-GPS support, media player with MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV format supports, video player with MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV format supports, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Google Voice Search (market dependent), Digital compass, TrackID music recognition, Document viewer, Voice memo.
