BARC week 25 : Star Plus' Yeh Hai Mohabbatein topples Colors' Kavach

MUMBAI: Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein replaced Colors’ Kavach to claim top position in top five programmes of Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) while in top ten channels of Hindi GEC, Star Plus toppled Colors at number one position. Even in, Urban HSM, Star Plus bagged the leadership position with Yeh Hai Mohabbatein leading the Hindi GEC programmes section.

On the other hand, in Rural HSM, Star Utsav continues to lead the market according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) week 25 all India data.

Urban+Rural HSM
In the combined market, Star Plus emerged as the leader with 669152 Impressions (000s) followed by Colors on the second position with 630167 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV on third with 590000 Impressions (000s).

Star India’s free to air channel, Star Utsav stood at number four with 456178 Impressions
(000s) whereas Sony Pal bagged the fifth slot with 451390 Impressions (000s).

Zee Anmol  and Life OK grabbed the sixth and seventh spot with 445267 Impressions (000s) and  411292 Impressions (000s) respectively.
In week 25, Sony Pictures Network(SPN)’s  Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and  Sab TV garnered eighth and ninth slot with 357481 Impressions (000s) and 343824 Impressions (000’s) respectively.

Rishtey stood at tenth place with 332770 Impressions (000s)

Top Five Programmes
Star Plus’ prime time show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein bagged the first place in top five programmes with 10981 Impressions while Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at number two with 10480 Impressions (000s). Another Star Plus show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya grabbed third slot with 10140 Impressions (000s).  Colors Kavach which was leading the charts in week 24 has fell on number four with 8704 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee Anmol’ s Jodha Akbar on fifth with 8215 Impressions (000s)

Urban HSM
Even in the Urban Hindi speaking market, Star Plus garnered first position with 448071 Impressions (000s) followed by Colors on second position with 430375 Impressions (000s) and  Zee TV with 321132 Impressions (000s) stood at number three.  

Star India’s second Hindi GEC Life OK stood at number four with 267413 Impressions (000s) while Sony Entertainment Channel and Sab TV bagged fifth and sixth slot with 251282 Impressions (000s) and 241373 Impressions (000s) respectively.

In Urban HSM, &TV  climbed up at number seven with 116816 Impressions (000s) followed by Sony Pal with 109461 Impressions (000s) on eighth and Zee Anmol bagged ninth spot with 105410 Impressions (000s).  Star Utsav  bagged tenth spot with 103149 Impressions (000s).

Top Five programmes
In Urban HSM, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein once again topped the chart with 7148 Impressions (000s) followed by another Star Plus’ show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya on second with 6471 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya with 5873 stood at three.

Kavach fell to number four with 5638 Impressions (000s) and Kasam bagged fifth slot with 52 Impressions (000s).

Rural HSM
In Rural HSM, Star Utsav continued at the first position with 353029 Impressions (000s) followed by Sony Pal with 341930 Impressions (000’s) and Zee Anmol with 339857 Impressions (000’s) stood at number three.

Zee TV stood at fourth place with  268868 Impressions’ 000s, while Rishtey  garnered  fifth spot with 252319 Impressions (000s).

Star Plus held sixth spot with 221081 Impressions (000s) while Colors bagged seventh spot with 199792 Impressions (000s).

On the other hand, Life OK grabbed eight spot with 143879 Impressions (000s) followed by Big Magic at nine with 121890 Impressions (000s) and Sony Entertainment stood at tenth with 106198 Impressions (000s).

Top Five programmes
In week 25, Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar bagged the first slot with 6456 Impressions (000s) followed another Zee Anmol show Bandini with 5419 Impressions (000s) which stood at second spot and Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya maintained its third slot with 4607 Impressions (000s). Star Utsav’s Saath Nibhana Saathiya bagged fourth slot with 4259 Impressions (000s) while Zee TV's Ek Tha Raja EK Thi Raani stood at fifth place with 4023 Impressions (000s)

BARC 25: Times Now, CNBC TV 18, India TV, CNBC Awaaz lead genres

MUMBAI: According to week 25 of BARC India, rating the English News space is yet again lead by Times Now. CNBC News18 held top position in English business news. India TV and CNBC Awaaz secured their leadership in respective genres.

English News
Times Now held number one position with 279 Impressions (000s), followed by News 9 on second spot with 142 Impressions (000s). CNN News 18 secured third spot with 126 Impressions (000s). NDTV 24x7 with 109 Impressions (000s) and India Today Television grabbed fourth and fifth position respectively.

English Business News
CNBC TV 18 held top position with 126 Impressions (000s). ET Now  grabbed second spot with 88 Impressions (000s). NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime held third spot with 31 Impressions (000s), followed by Bloomberg TV on fourth spot with 14 Impressions (000s).

Hindi News
India TV retained top position with 63832 Impressions (000s), followed by Aaj Tak with 63451 Impressions (000s) on second spot. India News held third spot with 44749 Impressions (000s) while ABP News held on to fourth position with 43482 Impressions (000s). News Nation with 41775 Impressions (000s) held fifth position. 

Hindi Business News
CNBC Awaaz with 695 Impressions (000s) and Zee Business with 507 Impressions (000s) held first and second spot respectively.

BARC 25: Zee Cafe, Movies Now, Discovery and Living Foodz lead respective genres

MUMBAI: According to week 25 of BARC India, 6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : 4+ Individuals rating, the English entertainment space was lead by Zee cafe. Movies Now topped English Movies. Discovery and Living Foodz continued their leadership in their respective genres.

English Entertainment

Zee Cafe claimed top position with 296 Impressions (000s) Comedy Central secured second spot with 250 Impressions (000s). Star World took third spot with 208 Impressions (000s). AXN climbed up to fourth position with 109 Impressions (000s), followed by Colors Infinity SD on fifth position with 89 Impressions (000s).

English Movies

Movies Now held number one position with 2901 Impressions (000s). Star Movies grabbed second spot with 2901 Impressions (000s). Sony Pix held third spot with 2317 Impressions (000s), followed by Zee Studio on fourth spot with 1546 Impressions (000s). HBO took the fifth spot with 1247 Impressions (000s).

Infotainment

Discovery retained top position with 3797 Impressions (000s) in week 25. History TV18 with 3389 Impressions (000s) held second spot. Animal Planet held third spot with 2986 Impressions (000s) while National Geographic held on fourth position with 2911 Impressions (000s). Nat Geo Wild with 2709 Impressions (000s) held fifth position.

Lifestyle

Living Foodz maintained its first position in week 25 with 1709 Impressions (000s), Fox Life with 801 Impressions (000s) held second spot. Home Shop 18 with 795 Impressions (000s) followed on third spot. TLC with 518 Impressions (000s) and Food Food with 516 Impressions (000s) held fourth and fifth positions respectively.

News 9 is No. 2 English news channel; India TV ousts Aaj Tak from top spot
 
MUMBAI: The big shift in the English TV news genre took place in the week ended 24 June. News 9 raced ahead of channels like NDTV 24×7 and India Today TV to be only behind market leader Times Now. 

There was a second visible change in the week. Edged out of the top five in Week 24, CNN News18 bounced back this time to occupy the third spot. 

NDTV 24×7 dropped two places to take the fourth rank. India Today TV also slipped two ranks to be the No. 5 English general news channel. News X dropped out of the top five table.

Hindi news channels

After a long gap, India TV ousted Aaj Tak from the pole position. According to BARC data for the week ended 24 June, Aaj Tak lost viewership and the top rank too. 

India News and ABP News swapped places, while News Nation stayed put at No. 5. The third position was occupied by India News.

English business news channels

There was no change in the pecking order of the English business news channels. CNBC remained right at the top in Week 25.

Hindi business news channels

There was no change in the positions of the Hindi business news channels. CNBC Awaaz remained No. 1, followed by Zee Business.

BARC week 26: English Business News genre players observe increase in ratings

MUMBAI: CNBC TV18 dominated the English Business News according to week 26 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India ratings. The space also witnesses a significant increase in its viewership.

Aaj Tak replaced India TV taking the number one position in Hindi news genre.

English News
Times Now continued to rule the English news genre with an increase in the ratings with 346 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 279 Impressions (000s) in week 25. India Today Television took the second position with 128 Impressions (‘000s), while CNN News18 grabbed the third spot with 110 Impressions (‘000s). NDTV 24x7 took the fourth place with 102 Impressions (‘000s) followed by News 9 with a decrease in the ratings from 142 Impressions (000s) bagged the fifth position with 97 Impressions (‘000s).

English Business News
CNBC TV 18 sustained its top position with an increase in the ratings from 126 Impressions (000s) in week 25 to 141 Impressions (‘000s) this week. ET Now took the second spot with 121 Impressions (‘000s) followed by NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime at the third position with 46 Impressions (‘000s) while Bloomberg TV maintained its fourth position with a with 17 Impressions (‘000s) in week 14.

Hindi News
Aaj Tak toppled India TV dominating the genre with 61785 Impressions (000s). India TV took the second berth with 61535 Impressions (000s) followed by India News with a decline in the ratings from 44749 Impressions (000s) to 44040  Impressions (000s) this week. ABP news settled down at number four with 43609 Impressions (000s) while News Nation took the fifth spot with 38354 Impressions (000s).  

Hindi Business news
CNBC Awaz ranked number one with increase in ratings from 695 Impressions (000s) to 881 Impressions (000s), followed by Zee Business with a decline in ratings at the second position with 485 Impressions (000s) as compared to 507 Impressions (000s)

BARC week 26: Its' all Zee offerings in top 5 rural programmes list

MUMBAI: Star Plus continued to dominate the genre in Urban + Rural Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) and Urban HSM. Colors witnessed a drop in ratings but maintained its second position in both the markets. In Rural HSM, Zee Anmol emerged as the number one channel and replaced Star Utsav to claim leadership position. In top the five programmes list, Kavach from Colors exited the list in both Urban + Rural HSM. In the Rural HSM, programmes from Zee channels booked all the top five slots for BARC week 26.

Urban+Rural HSM
In the combined market, with rise in ratings Star Plus emerged as the leader with 698563 Impressions (000s) against 669152 Impressions (000s) in week 25 while Colors witnessed a fall in ratings this week and maintained its second position with 618151 Impressions  against 630167 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee TV on third with 587573 Impressions (000s).

Zee network’s free to air channel Zee Anmol grabbed the fourth position with 520438 Impressions (000s) and pushed Star Utsav to fifth slot with 468809 Impressions (000s)

Sony Pal dropped down to number six with 457844 Impressions (000s) followed by Life OK at number seven with 388072 Impressions (000s) and Sab TV stood at number eight with 365087 Impressions (000s). 

In week 26,  Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and  Rishtey garnered ninth and tenth slots with 361949 Impressions (000s) and 323549 Impressions (000’s) respectively

Top Five Programmes in Urban+Rural HSM
In week 26, Zee TV’s prime time show Kumkum Bhagya led the top five programmes list with 11497 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Plus’ prime time show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein with 10043 Impressions (000s) and Saath Nibhana Saathiya with 9386 Impressions (000s). 

On the other hand, Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar climbed up at 9262 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV’s show Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani stood at five with 8556 Impressions (000s). This week Colors’ Kavach exit the top five list. 

Urban HSM
Star Plus garnered first position with a rise in ratings and recorded  466938 Impressions (000s) against  448071 Impressions (000s) in the previous week  followed by Colors on second position with 429036 Impressions (000s) and  Zee TV with 323472 Impressions (000s) stood at number three.  

Sab TV climbed to number four from fifth with 265434 Impressions (000s) followed by Life OK with 255096 Impressions (000s) stood at number five and Sony Entertainment Television stood at number six with 253259 Impressions (000s). 

In Urban HSM, Zee Anmol climbed up at number seven with 119171 Impressions (000s) followed by Sony Pal with 115509 Impressions (000s) on eighth and &TV bagged ninth spot with 114759 Impressions (000s).  Star Utsav  bagged tenth spot with 104193 Impressions (000s).
Top Five programmes in Urban HSM

In Urban HSM, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein once again topped the chart with 6643 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee TV’s show KumKum Bhagya on second place with 6622  Impressions (000s) and Star Plus another show Saath NIbhaana Saathiya  with 6245 stood at three.

Colors Udaan is the new entrant in the list that stood at number four with 5888  Impressions (000s) . A third show from the Star Plus stable - Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai bagged fifth slot with 5397 Impressions (000s)

Rural HSM
In Rural HSM, Zee Anmol replaced Star Utsav to claim leadership position with 401267 Impressions (000’s) while Star Utsav bagged second position with 364616 Impressions (000s) followed by  Sony Pal on third slot with 342335 Impressions (000s) and Zee Tv stood at fourth place with 264101 Impressions (000s). 

Rishtey held fifth spot with 242553 Impressions (000s)  while Star Plus grabbed the sixth spot with 231625 Impressions (000s) followed by Colors at number seven with 189115 Impressions (000s) and Life Ok which stood at eight with 132976 Impressions (000s). 

Big Magic and Sony Entertainment Television bagged ninth and tenth slot with 117184 Impressions (000s) and 108689 Impressions(000s) respectively. 

Top Five programmes in Rural HSM
In week 26, Zee Anmol’ s Jodha Akbar  and Bandini booked the first and second slot with 7117 Impressions (000s) and 5668 Impressions (000s) respectively. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the third spot with 4875 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee Anmol's Kasam Hai Tujhe Aa Bhi Jaa and Zee TV’s Ek THa Raja Ek thi Rani bagged fourth and fifth slot with 4037 Impressions (000s) and 4030 Impressions (000s) respectively. Basically, as mentioned above, it was all the programmes from Zee channels that bagged the top five slots in Rural HSM for week 26.

Shuffling in English Entertainment genre: BARC 26

MUMBAI: According to week 26 of BARC India, 6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : 4+ Individuals rating, Zee Café sustained its top position in the English entertainment space. Meanwhile, Star Movies got back to its top spot, pushing Movies Now to second spot in the English movies genre. 

Discovery, Living Foodz continued to dominate Infotainment and Lifestyle genre respectively.

English Entertainment

Zee Café sustained its number one position with a decline in rating from 296 Impressions (000s) to 228 Impressions (000s). Star World took the second spot with 201 Impressions (000s). Comedy Central with 148 Impressions (000s) grabbed third position.

AXN with 116 Impressions (000s) and Colors Infinity SD with 81 Impressions (000s) took fourth and fifth positions respectively.

English Movies

Star Movies repossessed its top position replacing Movies Now with 3012 Impressions (000s). Movies Now dropped a rank with second spot scoring 2472 Impressions (000s). Sony Pix secured third spot with 2373 Impressions (000s). Zee Studio grabbed fourth position with 1594 Impressions (000s) and HBO got fifth spot with 1096 Impressions (000s).
Infotainment

The infotainment space continued to be topped by Discovery India with 4560 Impressions (000s), followed by History TV 18 with 3450 Impressions (000s) in BARC week 26.

National Geographic Channel took third spot with 3363 Impressions (000s), Animal Planet with 3020 Impressions (000s) and Nat Geo Wild with 2299 Impressions (000s) were fourth and fifth place respectively. 

Lifestyle

Living Foodz was on number one position with 1826 Impressions (000s) in BARC week 26. Fox Life secured second place with 881 Impressions (000s), followed by Home Shop 18 on third spot with 763 Impressions (000s). Shop CJ was on fifth spot with 545 Impressions (000s). TLC took the last spot with 476 Impressions (000s).

BARC week 26: Nick leads kids genre with Motu Patlu

MUMBAI: Viacom 18’s Nick continued to retain its top position according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s all India (U+R) data for week 25 in NCCS All 4-14 Individuals category.

The channel has bagged 86062 (000s sums) impressions, followed by Disney Channel with 61691 (000s sums) and Hungama at the third spot with 58528 (000s sums) ratings.

Turner International’s Cartoon Network was at the fourth spot with 48093 (000s sums) last week, while its sister channel Pogo TV was the fifth most watched channel in the genre with a rating of 44091(000s sums). It had recovered its viewership ratings marginally.

Among the top five most watched programs in the genre, Nick’s Motu Patlu In Double Trouble lead the chart with 1160(000s sums), followed by Disney Channel’s Doraemon Movie: Galaxy Super Express with 778(000s sums) impressions making it a far second.

Motu Patlu Deep Sea Adventure secured the third spot with 759 (000s sums) followed by more from the franchise at fourth and fifth spot. Motu Patlu In Alien World - Part I at fourth on the list with 683(000s sums) impressions and Motu Patlu Mission Moon at the fifth spot with 623 (000s sums) impressions.

Aaj Tak ousts India TV from No. 1 spot

MUMBAI: Aaj Tak climbed a rank to be the No. 1 Hindi general news channel in Week 26, pushing India TV down to the No. 2 slot. 

There was no change in the positions of India News, ABP News and News Nation, which remained at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.

English news channels 

India Today, which was at No. 5 during Week 25, climbed to No. 2 in the English general news category. 

English general news channel News 9, which was at No. 2 among its peers in the previous week, was pushed down to No. 5 during Week 26, as per BARC viewership data. 

Times Now retained the top position. CNN News 18 and NDTV 24×7 remained at No. 3 and No. 4 positions respectively.

English business news channels 

There was no change in the pecking order of the English business news channels, with CNBC TV18 and ET Now retaining the No. 1 and No. 2 slots respectively. 

NDTV Profit (Prime) and Bloomberg stayed at No. 3 and No. 4 positions respectively.

Star Movies returns as No. 1 English movie channel

MUMBAI: Star Movies reclaimed its top position in the English movie channel hierarchy, pushing down Movies Now to the second spot.

There was no change in the pecking order for the other three top positions, as per BARC viewership data for Week 26.
