Update: Epic Television Networks receives two TV channel licences from MIB

MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has granted two new TV channel licences to Epic Television Networks on 13th May. The TV broadcaster has received two non-news and uplinking/downlinking licences under the name Epic HD and ShowBox.

The total number of permitted private satellite TV channels has increased to 908. Of these, 386 are news licences while 522 are non-news licences.

It is pertinent to note that The promoters of Epic Television Networks had created a new holding company called IN10 Media, which will act as a parent company for all its media businesses.

Under the IN10 umbrella, the company will be expanding its television network with the launch of two new channel Epic Plus and ShowBox. The two channels are slated to launch later this year.

Epic Plus is a high-definition (HD) offering which would be a separate feed and the content offering would strengthen Epic’s positioning, and further its brand promise of showcasing high quality, premium, India-centric content.

ShowBox, a free-to-air (FTA) channel, will be a regional youth and music channel, high on appeal and energy, that will push the boundaries of quality entertainment in the regional space.

Currently, Epic Television Networks owns and operates a Hindi infotainment channel Epic Channel and SVoD service Epic On.
