Update: Fox, CBS, and NBC Sue Dish Network for Cutting Commercials

#1
A few weeks ago Dish Network unveiled a new feature called Auto Hop for some of its DVR's. The feature went in and deleted commercials from primetime television shows after they were recorded. The idea was to allow the viewer to watch without having to fast forward through commercials. I knew at the time television networks would be suing.

Those suits have now started with Fox, CBS, and NBC all filing separate suits against Dish Network. ABC is the only major network that hasn't yet filed suit. The common thread in all the suits is that the networks believe Dish is illegally modifying programming by deleting the commercials. Dish has filed a suit of its own seeking a judgment from the courts on whether or not the feature is legal.
