Now it depend upon you if you don't want 8x1 switch + biskey support then go for MDS-2 3000 model and it support 4x1 switch + acc codec ok
I think its not " acc Audio codec (Dolby digital). but AC3 Codec is Dolby digital .

I think its not " acc Audio codec (Dolby digital). but AC3 Codec is Dolby digital . Its typo as aac codec and Dolby digital are different but both are high end Audio codec.
AC3 is Dolby Digital. It's only used for movies. AAC is probably still the best common commercial codec. It's on par with Ogg Vorbis.ok

Dear I don't have the sun Direact HD DVR ,But all DVR are mostly work same, I think upto 1 Tera Byte is supported with most of the DVR's, Even Solid can Record on 1 TB HDD. So you should go on with minimum 500GB HDD for Recording.
The main popular Brand are:-
1. WD-500GB (Westron Digital)
2. SAMSUNG
3. HITACHI
4. SEGATE
5. TOSHIBA etc
So you can try in your Area and it is good Idea to get on External from first three brands Rest it is your choice plus avaiabuilty.

Its better to use a 250GB, 320GB or 500GB USB External Hard Disk or a 16GB or 32GB Pen Drive than all this circus.
The "plasticy" Power Supply Unit in the pack is of a very very inferior quality. Within some hours of use it turns hot and on continuous use, it blows off with a "phut" and burning smell (Cannot use power supply continuously for longer duration).
I agree with you vinay_kumar but actualy i had traying connect 500GB USB external HDD to receiver and it is not detecting. please any help!
