The broadcaster has been testing the channel on AsiaSat 7 at 105 East. Currently, Star runs two regional sports channels Star Sports 1 Hindi and Star Sports 1 Tamil.

The broadcaster is running promos on Telugu channels announcing the arrival of the new channel. The broadcaster has roped in Telugu star Rana Daggubati to promote the new channel.

Like it other two siblings, Star Sports 1 Telugu will also have dedicated Telugu commentators for live sporting events. The graphics will also be in the Telugu language.

Star’s regional sports channels are home to India cricket and local sporting leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pro Kabaddi, and Indian Super League (ISL).

The regional sports channels also promote state-level sporting events. Star Sports 1 Tamil is the official broadcaster of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).
