Update: Sun TV Network, others publish RIO with MRP, bouquet rates of channels

MUMBAI: After ZEEL, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) and TV18, other broadcasters have also unveiled their maximum retail price (MRP) and bouquet rates of their channels under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) new tariff order.

Sun TV Network, Bennett Coleman and Company Ltd (BCCL), Turner International India, and Disney Broadcasting India have also published their new reference interconnect offer (RIO) documents which will be effective from 29 December 2018. Discovery Communications India is yet to unveil the MRP and bouquet rates.

Star India has not published the RIO under the new tariff regime as it has challenged the TRAI’s tariff order and interconnection regulation before the Supreme Court. The matter is listed for hearing on 11 September.

The broadcasters have clarified that the RIO has been filed in compliance with Clause 7 of the Interconnection Regulations read along with the Press Release no. 71/2018 issued by the TRAI on 3 July 2018 and is without prejudice to their rights and contentions and is subject to the final outcome of any ongoing appeal/litigation and/or any regulatory changes.

Sun TV Network

South India’s leading broadcaster has priced its driver channels like Sun TV, KTV, and Gemini TV at Rs 19 each. Other driver channels like Udaya TV and Surya TV have been priced at Rs 17 and Rs 12 respectively.

The movie channels in different languages like Gemini Movies, Udaya Movies, and Surya Movies have an MRP of Rs 17, Rs 16, and Rs 11 respectively. Other channels have been priced below Rs 10.

Sun TV’s standard definition (SD) bouquet comprises of 25 channels across four languages and five genres. The MRP of all eight high definition (HD) channels is Rs 19.

The broadcaster has three bouquets in each language called Basic, Prime and Super. The bouquets are priced between Rs 30 and Rs 50.

The Sun Ultimate bouquet consisting of all 25 SD channels is priced at Rs 65. It has three HD bouquets namely Tamil HD, Telugu HD, and Sun Ultimate HD priced Rs 35 and 65 respectively.

BCCL (Times Network)

The company owns and operates seven SD and five HD channels. Movies Now and Romedy Now have been priced at Rs 4 each while Times Now, ET Now, and MNX have been priced at Rs 3 each. Mirror Now and Zoom have an MRP of Rs 2 and Rs 0.5 respectively.

In terms of HD channels, Movies Now HD and MN+ HD have been priced at Rs 10 while Times Now HD, MNX HD, and Romedy Now HD have an MRP of Rs 6. The broadcaster has bouquets, SD and HD, priced at Rs 16.58 and Rs 32.3 respectively.

Turner International India

Turner, which owns and operates seven SD and HD channels, has priced its channels between Rs 1 to Rs 19. HBO and HBO HD carry an MRP of Rs 15 and Rs 19. Cartoon Network and Cartoon Network HD+ are available at Rs 6 and Rs 15. Pogo, WB and CNN International are priced at Rs 6, Rs 3 and Rs 1 respectively.

Turner has three bouquets of kids SD, SD, and HD channel bouquets priced at Rs 4.8, Rs 12, and Rs 16 respectively.

Disney Broadcasting India

Disney’s eight channels have been priced between Rs 5 and Rs 15. Disney Channel, Hungama, Disney Junior, and UTV Movies have an MRP of Rs 10. Bindass and Disney XD are priced Rs 5 and Rs 8 respectively. Disney International HD is available for an MRP of Rs 15. Disney has only one universal bouquet of Rs 10 which includes all the channels barring Disney International HD.
