MUMBAI: Turner International India has published its Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) tariff order requirements. The deadline given by TRAI for publishing the RIO was 31 August.

Turner International India has published its RIO through its authorised distributor IndiaCast. All seven channels will be available on a-la-carte basis under Rs 19. It has made three bouquets available. The first bouquet has been priced at Rs 4.8 which includes Cartoon Network and Pogo. According to Week 35 BARC data, Pogo TV was at fourth position with 62,277 impressions '000s in the kids genre. The second bouquet has been priced at Rs 12 and the third bouquet at Rs 16. The last one has two HD channels - Cartoon Network HD+ and HBO HD.

While most of the broadcasters have published their RIOs, the Supreme Court is yet to decide the final destiny of the digital television pricing. The apex court deferred the hearing of Star India’s petition filed against TRAI tariff and interconnect order to 11 September 2018. The case was first contested in Madras High Court which upheld the tariff order with certain riders.

However, while the supreme decision is still awaited, most of the broadcasters have already come up with channel prices. TV18 Broadcast Ltd (TV18), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) and Sony Pictures Networks India Private Ltd (SPNI), Disney India and Sun TV Networks have made available several bouquets targeting audiences of different natures. The first three broadcasters have also highly focused on regional bouquets. ZEEL was the only broadcaster to publish its RIO before the given deadline. Star India, one of the petitioners against the tariff order has not filed its RIO yet.
