Valentine Offers By Mobile Operators
With Valentine's Day round the corner, many operators are once again getting ready to cash in on special offers.

An industry insider who did not wish to be named said, "One advantage this year is that the V-day is falling on a holiday which means exchange of messages and calls are likely to happen more than on usual days. The operators will generate huge volume on one single day; and through the whole month the ARPUs will see a decent rise since most of the offers which operators introduce will end by this month."

Another expert shared that last year's revenues for operators on V-Day amounted to Rs 5 crore. With so many new players in the market, this is expected to increase significantly this year.

Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices, has launched new value added services for the occasion. The operator has two new services for its subscribers in Haryana and Punjab. The subscribers can wish their loved ones with love poems, songs, and callback tunes by subscribing to 'Valentine Love Bouquet on SMS' or 'Valentine Special Voice Portal' services.

In a similar move, Uninor the latest to join the telecom bandwagon will be offering Uninor 143 pack. Each pack would carry a pair of sim-cards offering 2000 minutes of free talk time between the two users. This offer is valid for subscribers across Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

While Airtel has not introduced anything special for the occasion, it is offering unlimited chat and email service over BlackBerry phones for Rs 99 per month, starting this month. This new rate will be applicable only for new Airtel BlackBerry subscribers.

BSNL will be give 20 per cent extra talk time on all the top-ups recharges for its prepaid mobile subscribers in the Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle on V-Day. The top up recharges start from Rs 100 to Rs 5,500 denominations.

In a slightly different approach Aircel Cellular has taken the title sponsorship of the agency Mogae Digital's where one can create a virtual flower by SMS or on the net. In the garden of love, users can choose between choices of three flowers, each of which comes in four colour options. This application is much similar to Farmville on Facebook.

It certainly seems that love is in the air, literally, as operators brace to extract the most out of the millions of messages and calls that will go out on Sunday.
