Windows 7 Build 7084 To Offer Option To Remove IE8

The Windows – Internet Explorer bundle has been around for ages, but users may be in for some changes with the new build of Windows 7. According to recent reports that can be found here and here, the Windows 7 Build 7084 has the option to remove Internet Explorer 8.
The new option comes in All Control Panel Options > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off. After unchecking Internet Explorer, all it takes is a reboot and voila.

There is a catch however, as the operation only seems to remove the executable file, however, it does seem like a step in the right direction for Microsoft indeed, who is now reconsidering its options after the European Union’s accusations.

The change, which is not part of the Beta 1, should be present in the Release Candidates, reports said. Since many may wonder though why can’t Internet Explorer be completely removed from Windows, well…that’s a very complicated issue, considering it is so deep integrated in the operating system.

The move does seem to settle somehow the accusations from the European Union and competitor browsers that Microsoft undermines competition through this bundle, and has been doing it for years.

It remains to be seen how the European Union will react to this move by Microsoft, but this could actually do more for Microsoft than any letter to the European Union explaining facts and figures would.
