MUMBAI: In an evening of glitz and glamour, the Ninth Indian Telly Awards 2009 honoured the shining stars of the Indian television
industry.
Zee TV won the maximum honours with seven popular awards in its kitty, followed by Colors with six.
Sony Entertainment Television (Set) and Star Plus shared the third spot with five metals each.
Also, standing tall on an equal platform was Sab and NDTV Imagine with three awards each.
Ronit Roy was crowned as the most popular male actor for his role in NDTV Imagine's Bandini, while Zee TV's Laali, aka Ratan Rajput, from Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo was named as the most popular female actor.
Colors' Balika Vadhu once again proved its mettle as it was announced as the most popular daily serial while Sony's C.I.D. won in the most popular weekly programme category.
A special award was conferred to Times of India Group MD Vineet Jain for his contribution to television. BAG Films and Media CMD Anurradha Prasad was honoured with the Hall of Fame.
