The 24-hour music channel from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) after being rebranded as Zing from Zee Muzic three months back is launching a slate of new shows to position itself as a lifestyle and music channel, in the same space as Zoom TV.
Anurag Bedi, business head, Zing, etc and Zee Trendz, says, "We have made a gradual but distinct transition from Zee Muzic to the channel's brand new identity Zing over the last couple of months."
Zing, in its revamped version, is now featuring more music, humour, animation, and celebrity lifestyle. The channel has launched an new show, called Zing Ne Bana Di Jodi, on July 11 at 7 pm, which promises to be hottest reality dating show with eight 'small town' hunks trying to woo eight 'uptown' girls.
"Zing as a more youthful channel, will bring the audience plenty of new programming content that will be ahead of its time. Our new dating show is our first distinct offering and we are certain it will find an instant connect with the audience." explains Bedi about the show.
Zing Ne Bana Di Jodi will be peppered with celebrity appearances to add to the excitement. Gay activist and actress Celina Jaitley appeared on the pilot episode and was seen playing cupid between heterosexual couples on the show.
Bedi explains that with Zing Ne Bana Di Jodi, the transition phase will make way for the channel's new identity that will be established through its fresh packaging and the channel's anthem composed by Raghav Sachar.
In April, Zing featured the new version of Unplugged, a show on the lives of singers. The new version - Zing Plug is better packaged than the earlier version and it focuses on interactivity, where audiences are involved more cohesively.
Recently, the channel also concluded an anchor hunt, called Kwality Walls Anchor Hunt. The hunt selected three winners, who got a chance to be VJs on three channels of the Zee bouquet - etc, Zee Trendz and Zing.
