Vodafone introduces Rs 16 prepaid ‘Filmy Recharge'; offers 1GB data for 24 hours
Posted by: nairrk - 04-16-2019, 07:01 PM - Forum: Cellular Services - No Replies

Vodafone has launched a low-value internet recharge plan for its prepaid subscribers. The telecom operator has introduced Rs 16 prepaid recharge voucher, which will give subscribers 1GB data with 24 hours validity. Vodafone is calling it the ‘Filmy Recharge.’

After the merger with Idea Cellular, Vodafone has been actively offering different schemes to their prepaid and postpaid subscribers. The new low-cost Filmy Recharge is another addition to the list. The Rs 16 priced prepaid recharge is an add-on voucher, which doesn’t come with any SMS or talk time benefits, reports TelecomTalk.

But in case you instead want more value internet pack then Vodafone also offers other options. There is an internet pack of Rs 29 which offers 500MB for 28 days. Then there is Rs 47 pack which offers 3GB data for one day. Also, users can look at Rs 92 pack, which offers 6GB data for seven days.

Meanwhile, the telecom operator is also offering free 4GB of high-speed internet data to new 4G customers. Those upgrading to Vodafone 4G SIM will also witness higher call quality and other benefits which 4G brings on the table. Furthermore, those Vodafone subscribers who have a VoLTE compatible phone will be able to experience VoLTE calls as well, which offers much better audio quality.

Reportedly, Vodafone will soon offer a 50 percent discount on an annual Amazon Prime membership as part of Amazon Prime for Youth offer for Vodafone prepaid subscribers. This offer will be valid in the age range of 18-24. The cost of Amazon Prime membership is Rs 999 on an annual basis, which means that subscribers can get the membership for Rs 499. With this membership, one will also be able to access Amazon Prime Video as well as Prime Music.

Google Chrome version 75 will restrict websites from detecting you in incognito mode
Posted by: nairrk - 04-16-2019, 07:03 AM - Forum: Technology & Web Services - No Replies

Google will fix issue with its FileSystem API that allowed websites to identify users who accessed their websites in incognito mode. The issue with Google’s FileSystem API used in Chrome came to light around a month back. Now, the search giant has confirmed that it is working to fix the issue, which will ensure that websites are not able to identify users when they visit their sites using incognito mode. Google plans to fix the issue with the release of version 75 of Chrome browser.

With Google Chrome version 75, when users access a website in incognito mode, those websites will not be to detect you. The fix is already available for testing in Google Chrome Canary and you can try it right now. In order to enable the feature on Chrome Canary, head to “chrome://flags” and search for “Filesystem API in Incognito” flag. Enable it and relaunch the browser. There is a test site being created, according to Techdows, which when visited through incognito mode after enabling the flag, you will see a pop-up message saying “it does not seem like you are in incognito mode”.

The feature is being introduced on Chrome by Google first and since Microsoft is building Edge on top of Chromium Engine, it is likely that Microsoft will also enable the feature. Microsoft is already testing Edge via three different channels: beta channel updated every six weeks, developer channel updated weekly and canary channel updated daily. It is currently available for Windows 10 and will soon be available for Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 and macOS as well.

With Edge essentially becoming as good as Chrome thanks to shared engine, Google Chrome could lose a lot of users to Microsoft’s web browser. The possible deeper integration with Windows operating system could help Microsoft Edge become more popular in the desktop browser space.

Reliance Jio introduces Rs 251 Cricket Data prepaid recharge with 2GB daily data
Posted by: nairrk - 04-12-2019, 06:32 PM - Forum: Cellular Services - No Replies

BSNL recently introduced two new prepaid plans priced at Rs 199 and Rs 499 with 1GB daily data. Now, Reliance Jio has also introduced a special prepaid recharge plan aimed at cricket enthusiasts who look forward to stream IPL 2019 matches on their smartphones. The prepaid recharge is priced at Rs 251, and here’s everything you need to know.

Spotted by 91Mobiles, the prepaid plan is visible on MyJio app when you try to recharge your Jio number. We tried on the web portal ( but only able to see the tab, not the plan. However, we can expect it to be available for recharge on the web portal soon.

Talking about details, it is just a data-centric plan where users get 2GB daily high-speed 4G data, and once the limit is hit, speed is throttled down to 64Kbps. The plan is valid for 51 days, meaning users get a total of 102GB high-speed data. And because it is a data only plan, you don’t get free calling or SMS benefits. But the free data is applicable in national roaming also, which is a benefit.

For Jio users who can pay a little bit more to get and want calling benefits as well, there are Rs 198 and Rs 398 plans to choose from. Both offer unlimited calling, unlimited SMS and roaming, along with 2GB daily data. The Rs 198 plan offers 28 days validity, whereas the Rs 398 plan offers 70 days validity. There is another alternate plan priced at Rs 299 which offers 3GB daily data and 28 days validity, along with unlimited calling and SMS.

ABP News Network set to expand its presence in regional markets
Posted by: nairrk - 04-12-2019, 10:20 AM - Forum: Television News - No Replies

MUMBAI: News broadcaster ABP News Network (ANN) is all set to expand its presence in the regional news market with the launch of new channels. The broadcaster has five new TV channel licences from the ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) in recent.

ANN has received licences under the names ABP Andhra, ABP Ganga, ABP Kannada, ABP Sanjha and ABP Tamil. The news broadcaster will begin its expansion with the launch of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand focussed channel ABP Ganga. This channel is slated to launch on 15th April and will also be available on DD Free Dish.

The channel has also revived plans to launch a Punjabi news channel ABP Sanjha. The channel’s launch was shelved at the last minute more than five years. ABP Sanjha is available on digital platforms and has also launched in Canada.

For the first time, ANN will also be stepping into the Southern market. It is planning to launch channels for Tamil, Kannada and Telugu markets with ABP Andhra (Telugu), ABP Kannada, and ABP Tamil.

Currently, ANN’s footprint is restricted to Hindi heartland, Marathi, Bengali and Gujarati with ABP News, ABP Majha, ABP Bengali, and ABP Asmita.

ABP Asmita was the first major launch by the company in seven and a half years after the launch of ABP Majha in 2007. It was also the first channel launch post Star’s exit from the company, which was earlier known as Media Content and Communications System (MCCS).

The company’s cost is expected to go up due to the launch of the new channel in the short-term. However, the company is also expecting additional revenue from the launch of the new channel.

As reported earlier by, news broadcaster ABP News Network’s net profit for the fiscal ended 31st March 2018 has gone up 61% due to a strong performance by Hindi and Bengali news channels ABP News and ABP Ananda.

The company’s net profit has jumped to Rs 48.99 crore in FY18 from Rs 30.36 crore in the year ago period. The profit before interest lease depreciation and tax (PBILDT) was up at Rs 95.56 crore from Rs 79.77 crore.

The PBILDT margin witnessed improvement in FY18 on account of increase in ad rates in ABP News and ABP Ananda on account of their established position in their respective genres supported by a marginal reduction in operating losses incurred in new ventures.

Higher PBILDT level primarily coupled with a decline in the capital charge led to an improvement in the PAT margin in FY18. The cash accruals of the company remained satisfactory at Rs 66 crore vis-à-vis term debt repayment obligation of Rs 11.25 crore in FY18.

With an improvement in the profitability level of the company, the net-worth position of the company recovered. Strong cash-flow from established channels (ABP News and ABP Ananda) supported the loss from newer ventures, repayment of term debt and other obligation in FY18 and Q1 FY19.
