Danny Boyle denies news of Bond film offer - Sathish - 03-05-2009

Los Angeles (PTI): Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle has denied reports that he will be directing the next Bond film.

Boyle who won this year's Academy Award for Best Director for Slumdog Millionaire told Entertainment Weekly that he had no plans to helm the next super spy flick.

"I enjoy the Bond movies, always have and always will, but I have no plans to direct one," said the director, who is known for tackling unconventional subjects.

"I don't know who came up with the story, but please tell them I'm very flattered to be thought of!," added Boyle, who has become hot property in Hollywood post the stupendous success of Slumdog Millionaire ,which won eight Oscars, four Golden Globes and seven BAFTA awards among others.

Earlier, a report quoting sources had said that the producer of the Bond Franchise Barbara Broccoli was keen to rope in Boyle to direct the next 007 film starring British actor Daniel Craig in the lead.

"Danny is the man of the moment and he is being bombarded with offers from studios. He has been offered the chance to direct the 23rd Bond film by Barbara," a source had told the Sun.

The-52-year-old director's previous films include Shallow Grave, Trainspotting and 28 Days Later."
