Linux Mint ships first KDE4 release - Sathish - 03-06-2009

Linux Mint, an Ubuntu-based distribution that prides itself on its good looks and ease-of-use, has just upped the ante with its Linux Mint 6 Felicia release candidate. The thing about Felicia is that it is the first KDE 4-based version released by Clement Lefebvre and his team over at Linux Mint.

“I think I can speak for the team when I say we’re all really excited about this release. It’s new, it looks fantastic and it’s our first ever KDE4 release,” said Lefebvre on the Mint blog.

The Felicia release is based on Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex, with a Linux 2.6.27 kernel, Xorg 7.4 and an up-to-date KDE 4.2 and Amarok 2.0.

You’ll need 256MB RAM to run the Live CD of Felicia or to install it. Once installed, Linux Mint 6 KDE CE can run with 256MB RAM, but you’ll be better off with at least 512MB RAM.
