Anandam, which is owned by Media Guru Broadcast, is a Hindi devotional channel with links to spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The channel is available exclusively on direct to home (DTH) platform Dish TV.

Mi Marathi is a Marathi news channel which was earlier owned by Sri Adhikari Brothers (SAB). The holding company of the channel is Mi Marathi Media.

The Music Choice licence was held by Music Choice India, which has been struck off by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).

Music Choice India is owned by Stingray Digital Group which is a leading provider of multiplatform music services and digital experiences for pay TV operators, commercial establishments, OTT providers, mobile operators, and more.

News Express was promoted by Sai Prasad Media, which was owned by real estate company Sai Prasad Group. The promoters of News Express have been under investigation for alleged financial irregularities.

Turner International India’s Toonami was shut down in May following which the company surrendered its licence to the MIB.

Toonami was a 24-hour English action and anime destination designed for viewers seeking a full-tilt, rollercoaster ride of adventure, quips, and drama.

Tora TV and OK Music were Haryanvi entertainment and music channels owned by VS Broadcasting. Incorporated in 2013, VS Broadcasting’s directors were Sanjeev Sharma and Vinod Kumar Sharma.

The MIB has granted permission to 1108 TV channels of which 246 permissions have been cancelled so far. Thus, the ministry has permitted 862 private satellite TV channels to operate in India. This includes 382 news and 480 non-news channels.

The MIB has also approved name change applications of Viacom18 and ZEEL to launch Colors Kannada Cinema and Zee Keralam SD and HD.

Viacom18’s licence under the name Uplex has been renamed Colors Kannada Cinema. ZEEL’s licences Zindagi and Zee Classic HD have been renamed Zee Keralam and Zee Keralam.

Colors Kannada Cinema will launch on 24 September while Zee Kerala is expected to launch in November.
