Deshmukh to appear on 'Kahiye Janab' of Zee News - Mr.Bhat - 11-27-2009

<img style="float:left; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px;"src=""/> Candle Light March Visit at Gateway of India and Hotel Taj was a show …just like organizing any other event said Vilas Rao Deshmukh exclusively on Kahiye Janab on Zee News.

A year after the terrorist attack that cost him his job, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has said government officials too should be held accountable for their lapses.

In an exclusive interview with Swati Chaturvedi, Vilas Rao Deshmukh shared his thoughts about the candle light march at Hotel Taj and Gateway of India. As per him “Candle March and Visit to Hotel Taj was not a tribute or a homage was handled like any other normal event and people were assigned to organise this event.

On being asked about whom he thinks planned this event, he said “It was done by people who wanted me to be removed from my seat. People were killed at Nariman House, CST Station but no one went there and organised a candle march.”

On probing further whether this tragedy was used against him, Vilas Rao Deshmukh said, “It seemed it was represented that if I won’t be removed from my seat, congress would lose Maharashtra Elections and that’s the reason that I was asked to resign from my duties”.

On his resignation he added, “I resigned from my duties but no strict action was taken against any other Government official, No one was suspended from their duties. If I was asked to resign then the Government should have taken strict actions against others as well.”
